A Lovely Creation Story told by the Sioux
I loved this when I stumbled upon it the other day! Just a magical story with so much beauty inside…
The Creator gathered all of Creation and said, “I want to hide something from the humans until they are ready for it. It is the realization that they create their own reality.”
The eagle said, “Give it to me, I will take it to the moon.” The Creator said, “No. One day they will go there and find it.” The salmon said, “I will bury it on the bottom of the ocean.” “No. They will go there too.”
The buffalo said, “I will bury it on the Great Plains.” The Creator said, “They will cut into the skin of the Earth and find it even there.”
Grandmother Mole, who lives in the breast of Mother Earth, and who has no physical eyes but sees with spiritual eyes, said, “Put it inside of them.” And the Creator said, “It is done.”

Edie, I knew when I’d read it that it seemed familiar, but I couldn’t remember where I’d seen it. I’m just glad I found it again.

Liz, I love delving into things that make me go hmmm. This one did, and I’ve read this concept in many books. This simple story brings it to light in a beautiful way. And, of course, I’m fascintated with the Native American culture. I love that they lived so closely to the earth. That connection lives on through their storytelling, and the wisdom is so valuable.

….and the Creator hid it so well that the masses are looking outside of themselves for Happiness. And all along, it’s right here, inside of me — at 9:50pm on a Sunday night. I love this story. Thank you. Amy

Hey Amy! Sorry so late commenting, but got back from Alaska early this week.
